Shipping INFINITY SPM System to Tufts University

July 23rd, 2020

Scienta Omicron ships INFINITY SPM System to Tufts University, making it the first of its kind in North America. This is the second system to be produced in the recently founded SPM and XPS Business Unit in Taunusstein.

The first Closed Cycle INFINITY SPM has been delivered to Tufts University in Massachusetts, USA. This is the first INFINITY SPM that will be installed in North America, and we are looking forward to its successful first results over the next year.

The INFINITY SPM System is a low temperature Closed Cycle SPM for high resolution STM and QPlus-NC-AFM measurements in a temperature range between <10K and 420K. It features an integrated Pulse Tube Cooler that does not consume any cryogenic liquid (no Helium or Nitrogen consumption) an important feature for low cost of ownership and environmental stewardship.

This INFINITY SPM is the second system to be produced in the recently founded SPM and XPS Business Unit in Taunusstein. The new SPM and XPS Business Unit was formed after the merger with Sigma Surface Science and has been operating out of these premises since February 2020. Over the past four months we have ramped up production and leveraged the collective knowledge between the two groups into the newly created business unit to produce market leading research equipment.

“We have been incredibly happy with the successful merge of expertise, products and manufacturing skills,” says Andy Bettac, SPM Product Manager. “The extended SPM range further strengthens Scienta Omicron’s SPM offering and position in the market. We are proud to be able to offer our customers a range of SPM solutions, and the opportunity to interface the SPMs with the variety of products from Scienta Omicron through our Materials Innovation Platform (MIP) systems.
