Forum des Microscopies
Forum des Microscopies à sonde locale
Obernai, France
The Local Probe Microscopy Forum is a tri-national French-speaking conference that has taken place every year for more than 20 years. It brings together over 5 days about 100 scientists studying the physical and chemical properties of nanomaterials and surfaces, using the full range of local probe microscopy techniques (AFM, STM, SNOM). These booming microscopy techniques have now become essential tools for characterizing materials and nanoobjects and are used both in basic research and in industry.
Continuous technical developments around these microscopes allow them to operate in different environments (under UHV, at the liquid-solid interface, at low temperature, under controlled atmosphere, etc.) and they are increasingly often coupled with other characterization techniques (SEM, Raman, robots, etc.). They are used in all fields, ranging from Biology to Chemistry, including Physics (optics, mechanics, magnetism, surface physics, materials, sensors, etc.).
This Forum, which marks an important stage in the life of our community, is a privileged moment to take stock of recent advances in the physics and chemistry of surfaces but also to structure new collaborations favoring the emergence of original and promising projects in France. like on the international stage. In addition, by promoting the work of young researchers, doctoral and post-doctoral students, this symposium allows them to establish contacts in order to prepare for recruitment in our research organizations, our universities or our industrial partners.
The format of the Forum allows all participants to take the time to meet and discuss with manufacturers and distributors in the field. The support of our industrial partners is therefore a key point in the success of this Forum.
