R&D Manager to Scienta Omicron
As the R&D Manager you will be leading a team of approximately 10 colleagues of specialists in Uppsala. In addition to the team in Uppsala we also have a SW team in Brno, Czech Republic, which is shared within different parts of Scienta Omicron. Our R&D is strongly process oriented based on well-established processes and a pulse working method with visual planning. As the manager of the R&D team you are responsible for further developing the skills and offerings of both our R&D and SW team. The role is located at our modern head office in Boländerna, Uppsala with around 50 colleagues.
We see that software has an increasing importance for our products to enable us to differentiate from our competitors as well as enabling efficient product development. Going forward, our business will have a strong emphasis on software and product development. Scienta Omicron is the leader in surface science instrumentation for academia. In addition to that, we plan to extend our offerings to industrial applications. In this journey, software will be even more important.
As R&D Manager you will be a part of the management team in ESPEC (Electron spectroscopy), our largest unit in Uppsala and you will collaborate with the R&D Managers for other business units within Scienta Omicron, located in Taunusstein, Germany. At the moment we are working towards common tools and processes, and you will have an important role in that change.
Who are you?
The majority of the R&D team holds PhD degrees in different areas which is why we believe that you have at least a master’s degree in science or engineering. We also believe that experience in hands-on product development in the industry is beneficial to both you and the team. We would prefer to see that you have strong experience in managerial roles and that good leadership comes naturally to you.
Furthermore, as a person we think that you:
- Have documented strong leadership skills, with a proven ability to manage and motivate teams of many different skills.
- Have a strong technical knowledge in some engineering area, preferably SW or product development, combined with a genuine interest in all relevant technology areas.
- Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with the different stakeholders.
- Have a strong understanding of emerging technologies and trends, and the ability to identify and capitalize on new opportunities that will help us develop the business.
